Bible Study Verse: Psalm 31:7
“I am overcome with joy because of God’s unfailing love, for he has seen my troubles, and he
cares about the anguish of my soul”
Thoughts: Recently I had the privilege of talking with a couple of professional gunsmiths. I
marveled at their knowledge of, and expertise in, the gun world. I am blessed to have acquaintances
like them, people that I can ask my questions and get some interesting perspectives. One of them
is probably the most positive person I have ever been around. This is interesting because his wife
is battling cancer, he has many health issues, and their 40-year-old son has many health issues as
well. One day I asked him, “With all that you have going on, how do you always manage to stay
so positive?” In answer he said, “What happens if you take a chair and stand on it, then ask
someone to take your hand and pull you down? It’s not too hard, is it? Now, what happens if you
stand on the chair, take their hand and try to pull them up? It’s not so easy, is it? I don’t let other
people pull me down.” Think really hard on his words. There is a lot there to digest.
Action Point: So the question of the day is this, are you the person pulling someone up? Or are
you the person pulling someone down? As people of faith, we should be the ones to be a positive
influence in life. We live in an extremely negative society and world. Be a positive influence on
people. Do not let the world of negativity control you. Think on how Jesus reacted to worldly
situations. I try to think to myself, “What would Jesus do?” He was always pulling people up and
loving on them no matter what. That’s a great example for us to follow.
Sportsman’s Tip of the Day: When shopping for a new gun or gun parts ask folks that are
professional in that area for some guidance and direction. Their knowledge and expertise will assist
you in your decision.
