This Devotion was written by Sportsmen Devotional and posted with permission Bible Study Verse: Isaiah 48:6-7 "You heard and saw everything that happened, so you should tell this news to others. Now I will tell you about new things, hidden things that you don't know yet. These things are happening now, not long ago; you have not heard about them before today. So you cannot say, 'We already knew about that.''  Thoughts: It's fast! It's Quiet! It will laser an arrow to the target! No Shock! No Vibration! Smooth as Butter! My new bow is in the mail. I can't wait to place my hands on it. I have heard all the good things that is said about it. I just know that this new bow is going to be the best thing I have ever shot. I wonder how it will feel. Will the grip set well in my hand? Will it do all that the company says? The anticipation is so high; I hope I am not let down by my own idealistic dreams.  Action Point: According to Isaiah, we have heard a

(NKJV)  Thoughts: Ruling over the fish of the sea and the birds in the air is an awesome responsibility that God has given us. With new technology, it is easier to overharvest our fish and game. It is crucial to maintain proper predator/prey ratios. Harvesting game should depend on the populations. Once an animal is harvested, we must utilize it as a food source and thank God for His provision.  Action Point: Take the responsibility to promote rules within your party for hunting and fishing that emphasize good ethics and stewardship.  Sportsmen's Tip of the Day: Try going barbless, release your fish carefully, and only

This Devotion was written by Sportsmen Devotional and posted with permission Bible Study Verse: Matthew 5:13-16 13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. NIV.  Thoughts: Campfire cooking—there’s nothing like partaking in freshly harvested game. Maybe it's fresh-caught trout at a campfire next to a favorite lake or river. It could be elk or venison tenderloin at a backcountry campsite. Perhaps your flavor may be turkey breast in the spring, gator in late summer, or pheasant in the fall. Whatever

This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” NIV  Thoughts: Years ago, we used to hunt a lot in South Central Wyoming. Because we lived in Wisconsin, every year we would rent horses from the area we hunted in to use in our guided hunting operation. That meant that every year we had to get to know different horses. When the horses arrived my father, who was born in 1925, grew up on a farm and used horses to work the fields, and I would look at the horses and determine which ones were for packing and who should ride each horse. Dad had a gift when it came to horses. He was able to watch a horse and determine its use, gait, how well trained it was, etc. He loved animals and they loved him. No matter how wild a horse was he cou

Bible Verse: Matthew 2: 1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked “Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship Him.”  Thoughts: The Magi traveled a long and dangerous journey to worship the one who was born King of the Jews. This wasn’t an easy journey but they kept their focus on the star and their goal to worship the King.  Action Point: Hunters will sit in bone crushing cold temperatures. They will plow through ice, mud and swamps, and they will endure mind numbing boredom just to have an encounter with an animal or bird. How God pleasing it must be when hunters use the same drive to worship the one who was born King of the Jews, Our Savior. Happy New Year
