MOTO Northern Wisconsin Fishing Trip The recent fires in the Boundary Waters forced MOTO to cancel our planned trip to the wilderness. In leu of doing nothing we came up with Plan B. Our new plan was to fish a number of different lakes in the Northern Wisconsin area. The plan called to fish a variety for different type of lakes that would present different challenges. Day one we ventured to Bearskin Lake which is a 400 acre that holds musky’s, walleyes and panfish. We found the lake to have a lot of green algae which didn’t help our search for fish. We did manage to bag several fish but no were near enough for a meal. Day two we took off to the Willow Flowage which is a 5,000-acre flowage. The flowage has a variety of different structures; a number of islands and the Tomahawk River runs through the flowage. This was our biggest challenge with the flowage was the water level was down 8 feet. Virtually all of the structures were above the water and the only safe place to fish was in the ...

MOTO Annual Sight-In Event   Men of the Outdoors will host its annual Sight-In event on Saturday, September 5th at the Shooting Range at Lake Park in Shiocton.  We will start at 9:00 am with a devotion, with donuts, coffee, and juice.   We then have a short refresher on range rules, and then on to the range to sight-in your firearms.  The range fee is $10.00 per person shooting.  The daily fee is good to use at all ranges. The range consists of a 50 and 100, a 200/300/500-yard range (you can drive down with your trucks or cars), and a handgun range (18 yards) and an archery range with multiple stations for different situations. Covered shooting tables with stationary target stands are at each range.  We conclude the day with a brat luncheon around noon.  If you are interested in attending the event contact Ron Kueck at 920-250-5587.                     MOTO 2026 Sporting Clay Event Highlights   Our day was off to a good start with some nice weather and very few misquotes. We started by greeting each other and a light centennial breakfast. Our devotional thought for the event was based on Colossians 4:2 . The point of our devotion was the importance of prayer in our lives. Each participant received a Steve Chapman book “The Hunt for Faith – Finding God in the Great Outdoors” After some safety guidelines it was off to the course. The course wasn’t crowded and we were able to move along at a nice pace. The group was above the 50% when it came to hitting clay pigeons. After everyone completed the course and the dust settled, we were back at the club house for a very nice lunch prepared by J&H. Muzzleloader Highlights September 20 2025                              What was looking like a bad weather day turned out to be sunny and a very nice day. The day started with a very nice lunch and a devotion that related the outdoor hunting world to God’s world. Our program began with a trivia contest. We had about 5 old sayings that originated back in the early days of Muzzleloaders. The contest did show our lack of muzzleloader history. Different powders, loads, barrels and techniques were discussed. Then it was off to the range where we held a little competition from 50 yards. All that can be said about this competition is that if we were shooting at animals, they would have been safe. It was an educational and fun day and we look to do another one in the future. The event will be held at Dave Gilberson’s N1372 Pines Road, Fremont, Wi. The event starts at noon with a devotion and a pot luck meal. Bring a dish to pass and a lawn chair. Some mosquito spray may help you enjoy the day.   Highlights 2025 Boundary Waters Trip Our 2025 Boundary Waters Adventure began with a prayer for safe travels before we loaded up and started the eight-hour drive to Clearwater Outfitters. After spending the night in a bunkhouse and enjoying a hearty breakfast, we secured our permits and were on our way. It was a two-hour canoe trip and a short portage before we arrived at our campsite. Our spot was one of the best on the lake, with a spectacular view and a sandy beach that made it easy to launch our canoes. The weather was perfect the entire week. We started each day with a devotion, staying true to our mission. The fishing was a bit inconsistent, but we caught plenty of smallmouth bass. Walleye fishing was slow, but we were still able to enjoy fresh walleye several nights. We also targeted lake trout and had some great success, reeling in several large fish ranging from 24 to 29 inches . By the end of our trip, we had fished three different lakes.   Our day was off to a good start with sun and no rain. We had a slight issue with these things called misquotes. The day began with a light centennial breakfast and greeting each other. Our devotional thought for the event was based on Matthew 16:15-16. The point of our devotion was do people recognize you as being a Christian. After some safety guidelines it was off to the course. The course was a little more crowded this year, but we were able to move along at a nice pace. The group was in the 50% range when it came to hitting clay pigeons. After everyone completed the course and the dust settled, we were back at the club house for a very nice lunch prepared by J&H. After lunch a number of door prizes were given out and we had a little for fellowship before everyone headed for home. A special note about this year’s event, we had a number of participants that invited friends and family. Although all of them couldn’t make it was great to see.

  The Men of the Outdoors began its’ busy summer schedule with a trip to lake Lac Vieux Desert to spend several days fishing. Despite a little wind we had three nice weather days. The fish on Lac Vieux Desert get bigger every year.  We caught a large number of bluegills over 8 inches and perch over 10 inches. We did clean several hundred fish and enjoyed a very good fish fry. Fishing was just part of the experience. Our times together in Gods’ word, building friendships and sharing stories was an important part of our trip.   Again, Bob Dailey served as our host and guide. Bob did an awesome job which we greatly appreciate.   We thank our Loving Father for blessing us not only for the fish we caught, but also the time of fellowship we enjoyed.

For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.   Devotional Thought: Most guys who hunt turkeys have a number of calls. They have their favorites and some just get stored. The favorites get a lot of use and will show some wear while the stored calls look like new.                            The 2024 Sporting Clay Event was blessed with a perfect weather day that had very few misquotes. The day stated with a light Continental Breakfast and a Devotion. Our devotion was base on Philippians 4:8-9 which taught us, like hunters who need to develop and practice skills to be successful, Christian men  need to apply and practice Biblical principles to find God's peace in their lives. After reviewing several safety practices we headed out to the course. There were very few other shooters on the course which allowed us to moved around the course at our own pace. We had several guys who weren't able to shoot, they kept score and pushed buttons. A number of guys had a good day, a few experienced an ok day and the rest just had fun.
