This Devotion was written by Sportsmen Devotional and posted with permission   Bible Study Verse: Psalm 96:6  “Splendor and majesty are before Him, strength and beauty are in His sanctuary” Thoughts: It wasn’t until I started hunting waterfowl that I saw a drake wood duck for the first time. I was blown away to think that God created something that beautiful. Even now, every time I see one, I’m reminded of God’s handiwork.  Action Point : What makes you stop and reflect on the splendor and majesty of Christ? Will you plan time this week to do that?    Sportsman’s Tip of the Day:   Bringing a small notepad into the field with you to take notes of what you see is a great way to document each trip for future reference.

Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful. (NASB)  Thoughts: One of my favorite things is to hop in my 10ft Jon boat (usually with my wife) and troll around the lake. We typically go at sunset. It’s incredibly peaceful and it helps us to take an inventory of where we are at in life. We always come back refreshed and refocused. John L.  Action Point: Peace is one of the most sought-after commodities in our world. When I was living in darkness apart from God, I rarely had peace. I was always searching for it but I was so worried about what others thought about me, or if I would get caught doing something I shouldn’t be doing, or if I would succeed in life in general. Now, when I’m anxious I have the opportunity go to God because he truly cares for me and I know that He has my best interest in

Both the ceremonially unclean and the clean may eat it. But you must not eat the blood; pour it out on the ground like water. (NIV)  Thoughts: Is it okay to be a hunter? Is it okay to kill an animal? Is it okay to eat the meat of animals? Does God approve or condemn these practices? These verses clearly sanction the slaughter and the consumption of animals for meat. Jesus ate fish while on the earth, and chose commercial fishermen to be among his apostles. The animals are a part of the stewardship of the earth that God has given to humans. Specifically named in these verses are domestic and wild game animals. He approves the use of animals for meat, leather, and for labor. It is

As opening day approached, I kept watch on the weather in hopes for a little warmer temperature. The particular area where I hunt is not a very large area and is surrounded by crop land. I have seen some hens and their poults, but never any gobblers. As I stood at the edge of the wood line, I felt so grateful to live in a region where I could hunt freely. I prayed to God and thanked him for the opportunity. Each year I look forward to the ability to venture into the woods in hopes of finding a gobbler. On that particular morning, I hadn’t gone too far into the area when I decided to strike several yelps on an old box call give
