Bible Study Verse: Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. (NASB)
Thoughts: When I was about 13, I witnessed one of the most amazing sights a duck hunter can see. It was preseason and I was scouting public land when I walked up on a small pond isolated by acres of wooded and rugged terrain. I was within 20 yards from a small pond when I stepped on a branch that crunched. I looked toward the direction of the pond to see hundreds of mallards collectively flying off. My plan was to hunt this small pond the during the upcoming season. When duck season opened, I was disappointed to learn that because of pressure from other duck hunters in the area, this was no longer a place where the mallards would call home. In fact, it was desolate every time I hunted it.
Action Point: In life, we face many disappointments. I have given myself to many endeavors, hoping to get joy and satisfaction out of them, only to find that they fall short of delivering what I hoped they would. Time and time again, I have found that the only thing that returns long lasting joy and peace is my relationship with Christ. When I start my day off reading the Bible, journaling, and praying, it stirs my affections for Christ and gives me the joy and peace that I can’t experience anywhere else. Is there an area in your life where you are trying to find satisfaction, but keep getting let down? God loves you and He wants to help you find true satisfaction in Him today.
Sportsman’s Tip of the Day: When preseason scouting, try to find several potential hunting spots, not just one. Rotate those spots during the season so the target animals don’t catch on.
