Bible Study Verse: 1 Samuel 17:35
David says, “Whenever a lion
or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck
it, and rescued the sheep from its mouth. (NIV)
Thoughts:
Nothing
better than seeing a kid get his first big buck. This boy did during the
Indiana youth season and he’s the grandson of one of my good friends. Not
everyone in their family hunts, but they all love sharing in the harvest. This
young man will remember this hunt for the rest of his life, and I bet his dad
will too!
Action
Point: So,
there he was standing on the banks of a river with a 9-foot-tall enemy on the
other side. Calling him out to fight when no one else would go. We all know the
story of David and Goliath. David stepped up and held steady when it counted.
He held onto his faith in God alone when he picked up those 5 stones to use as
ammo, as he faced insurmountable odds. Did he flinch? Nope, he called on his
God to help him fired a single shot from his sling and cut off the giant's
head. See it was all about a faith in God that was so big he couldn’t be moved.
The next time you’re in a pinch, have faith and pray. Remember to slow down,
trust in Him and He will provide.
Sportsmen’s
Tip of the Day: Find a kid to take hunting. National hunting participation is
dropping across the U.S. so find a kid to mentor and keep the tradition alive.
