Bible Study Verse: Hebrews 9:27-28
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. ESV.
Thoughts: I cannot wait for the opening day of spring turkey season. Every year for many years, it’s been the same for me; I could hardly wait. I prepare, scout, watch videos, pattern my gun, practice calling, and much more. I greatly await opening day. What’s your favorite season opener? Is it whitetail deer? Or, maybe it’s duck, elk, bear, mule deer, antelope, or a particular fishing season. If you do not hunt, you may look forward to a day you’re headed on a hiking or vacation trip. We all anticipate and get ready for opening days or days when we plan outdoor activities.
Action Point: There is a day coming when the Lord will return. We should all prepare and be ready for that day. It’s a day that all Christians have anticipated and waited on for many years. We don’t know the exact day or hour, but He is surely coming. Will you be ready? What are you doing to prepare? When I think about how much effort, money, and time I put into preparing for the opening days of different hunting seasons, I have to do some self-evaluations. I ask myself: am I preparing for Christ’s return, and is a relationship with Him the priority in my life? I commit myself to Him, I will stay connected to Him, I will obey His commands, I will love Him, I will love others, and I will point everyone I can to Jesus. What will you do?
Sportsman’s Tip of the Day: Prepare in advance. Be ready for your favorite opening day. Scout hunting areas and know the terrain. Double-check your gear and make sure your firearm is sighted in properly. Make sure your clothing matches predicted weather conditions. Keep a map and compass with your gear. Stash a first aid kit. These are just a few things to remember in preparation. You should tweak and add much more to this list to make it your own.
