Bible Study Verse: 2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (NIV©)
Thoughts: Some years back I was camped up in Northern Arizona and came across an elk that was behaving strangely. The elk would walk in circles, stumble over logs, and lean with its head up against trees. Being concerned about the possibility of Chronic Wasting Disease (which, thankfully, we don’t have in Arizona), I called the Arizona Game & Fish Department and they sent a Wildlife Manager (Game Warden) out to where I was. We found the elk and the Warden confirmed that the animal had a parasite that is found in stock water tanks and migrates to the brain of the animal. The parasite is fatal to the animal so the Warden, mercifully, put the animal down. The irony is that the parasite affects deer and elk but not cattle.
Action Point: False teachers and non-Biblical based theologies are like parasites. They can infect believers and lead them away from the truths found in the Bible’s teachings. They can also confuse non-believers and keep them from finding the truth of saving faith found only in Jesus. It is important that we be reading and meditating on God’s Word, the Bible, daily. By doing so our faith will be strengthened and we will be able to discern truth from falsehoods.
Sportsmen’s Tip of the Day: It’s important to be familiar with the game laws wherever you hunt. Read the game and fish regulations as published in the State where you will be hunting and fishing. Remember the old adage, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Knowing the regulations can keep you from receiving an expensive ticket and/or losing your hunting and fishing privileges
