Bible Study Verse: Psalm 14:1  The fool[a] says in his heart, “There is no God.” (NIV©)

Thoughts: Years back my Dad and I had been on a hunting trip to Colorado. On our way home I mentioned the antelope I had been seeing from the highway north of Phoenix (Interstate 17). Dad immediately informed me that there hadn’t been any antelope in the area for many years. At that exact moment, and with God as my witness, I looked out the window to the side of the highway on his side of the truck, pointed, and said, “You mean like those?”

Action Point: To his credit, Dad had not seen antelope in this particular area for a long time. And, he wanted to be sure that I knew that he was correct and that I was wrong (Anyone else have a Dad like that? Bigger question, are you that Dad?). However, the antelope standing by the road proved him wrong. So, my point today is this: Go back to any of the ancient manuscripts or writings of just about any culture and there is always a mention of “gods,” even in remote tribes (Go back and read Romans 1, particularly verses 18-20). Why? What made these ancient people believe that there were gods that controlled the world? The answer can be found in Ecclesiastes 3:11: “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” (NIV©). Yes, God created mankind with a longing for Him in their hearts. So, is your heart longing for a relationship with the one true God today? If so, simply do what Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3:16: Believe in Him (Jesus) and you will not perish but will have eternal life with Jesus and the Father.

Sportsmen’s Tip of the Day: If you have a permit to hunt for a particular animal in an area, listen to what other hunters say they have and have not seen in that area. Follow up with your own scouting, but often you can learn a lot about an area by simply listening to others talk about it.
