Bible Study Verse: Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. NIV.
Thoughts: Last deer season, I went to my deer blind before dawn for a morning hunt. It was cold, and I was bundled up in warm clothes. I didn’t use my flashlight when I approached the stand because of the number of deer in the area. I got into my blind, which was pitch-black. There is a chair on the left side inside the stand. I always sit in it, and it’s always in the same spot. Even though it was dark and I didn’t turn on my light, I knew it was there, so I sat down. The chair wasn’t there; I hit the floor and dropped everything in my hands.
Action Point: Let’s talk about faith—your faith and mine. What do you believe? Do you believe Christ is the way to know God and be saved? There’s a lot of false teaching today claiming there are many paths to heaven, but that is not true. We must regularly examine ourselves to ensure that what we believe is biblical. Just like in my story above, my belief won’t hold if it isn’t accurate and rooted in scripture. The object of my belief must be real and must be true. Do you believe in a resurrected Christ?
Sportsman’s Tip of the Day: I’ve learned to carry low-powered LED flashlights that emit green or red light. These colored lights tend not to spook game like a white light does. It’s amazing what a small amount of light can illuminate in darkness. It’s enough to see how to walk in the dark and enough light to see when I get into deer blinds
