NLT.  Thoughts: Every sportsman knows the necessity of having a sharp knife. A fisherman filets the fish. Deer and elk hunters’ skin their harvested animals, then debone and slice their venison. Turkey hunters often breast-out gobblers. Then there’s rabbit, squirrel, duck, dove—the list could go on. You know what I am talking about: after the harvest, you’ve got to have a sharp knife. A dull knife will make a mess of things  Action Point: We all need to stay sharp in life, too. Staying sharp Biblically requires regular and intentional engagement in Scripture. Or heard multiple bull elk bugling, all at the same time? The sound is breathtaking, especially when you’re in remote country, looking at snow- capped mountains, on a crisp, clear day with no wind. In my opinion, it is one of the most awesome experiences you can find in the USA. Elk are one of the most majestic animals to be seen in the wild. No wonder so many people want to pursue them on an outdoor adventure.  Action Point: When I think of the elk, and how we put them into a class all by themselves, how majestic and amazing they are, it makes me wonder. He testified concerning him: I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after my own heart: he will do everything I want him to do.” NIV  Thoughts : It was early morning in the cold, dark mountains of Wyoming. I was on my horse, trotting along down a secluded trail. I was on a mission. I had a specific place in mind to look for elk. As we walked, a beaver splashed in the water nearby, and the horse jumped 3 feet to his left. This particular horse was afraid of its own shadow in the dark. The thought made me smile. The above verse came to mind as I continued riding and contemplating life.  Action Point When you look at the life of David in Scripture, you’ll see that he was a man’s man.
