It’s so peaceful, quiet, and relaxing that early in the morning. I get to spend some quality time with the Lord. But after a while of sitting, my mind can start to wander, and daydreaming starts to take over. I normally let it happen; what harm can come from this? Action Point: Jesus wants us to have a sober mind so we can keep focused on Him and His word. Peter reminds us to keep our minds sober so that when the evil one attacks us, we are ready. If we are not focusing our lives on Jesus and His word, we are not of a sober mind.        Men of the Outdoors is hosting its annual Sporting Clay Event at J&H Game Farm on Saturday morning  July 26,2025 . J&H is located just off Highway 156 at W5810 J H Rd, Shiocton, WI, 54170.  Event Facts : The day starts at 9 AM with a Light Breakfast – Coffee and Doughnuts After a devotion and some logistics, it’s out to the course. The course has 10 different stations with a total of 50 targets. (J&H sells shells if you need them) After touring the course it’s time for fellowship and lunch. Lunch consists of Hamburgers, hot dog’s chips, bake beans and a beverage. Cost per person - $38.00 For those who want to attend the event but won’t be shooting the cost will be $18.00.   The Men of the Outdoors began its’ busy summer schedule with a trip to lake Lac Vieux Desert to spend several days fishing. Despite a little wind we had three nice weather days. The fish on Lac Vieux Desert get bigger every year.  We caught a large number of bluegills over 8 inches and perch over 10 inches. We did clean several hundred fish and enjoyed a very good fish fry. Fishing was just part of the experience. Our times together in Gods’ word, building friendships and sharing stories was an important part of our trip.   Again, Bob Dailey served as our host and guide. Bob did an awesome job which we greatly appreciate.   We thank our Loving Father for blessing us not only for the fish we caught, but also the time of fellowship we enjoyed.

NIV. Thoughts: Recently, I went into the field looking for a big whitetail buck to photograph. After hearing that one was frequenting a large greenfield, I set out to catch a glimpse of him. I hid my truck and slipped out to the field’s edge for a while, but I didn’t see him then. When I returned to my truck, I saw the huge buck coming from the forest. He crossed the blacktop road right beside my truck. Fortunately, I snapped a few shots of him there and later in the greenfield. What I thought would be a fruitless evening turned out to be great—my blessing was there at the right time. I didn’t know it till it happened. Action Point: My life is filled with many blessings. (NIV) Thoughts: We all know the story and I’m sure many of us have experienced the thrill. That’s catching a giant Pike when you are actually fishing for something else. Those are always the best kind to catch in my opinion. Fishing for bluegills and wham! Casting a crank bait for bass and wham! I could go on and on, but you get the picture. Sure, you can always target Pike and it’s not overly complicated, but nothing is better than a surprise Pike as I like to call them. You just always have to be ready when you’re on the water.
